This recorded interview with Bearing Consulting offers fascinating insights into how consulting services and the economy have changed in the post-Lehman era. Focusing on consulting services first of all, the old pyramidal model has developed into a more horizontal one, involving one single firm carrying out both strategy and execution. Moving on to performance management, large corporations have started using performance parameters across contracts to establish a value chain. Regarding public organisations, performance indicators are being increasingly used to measure project efficiency not just from an internal point of view, but also looking closely at external effects. In terms of M&A strategies, corporates are moving to consolidate their positions and smaller companies are engaged in horizontal mergers in order to reach new markets and monetise their products. Discussing the economic ‘reset’, the conclusions were that it was due to external factors and that in the markets the rules have changed and financial instruments should be reviewed. Finally, looking at Spain’s situation, our interviewees would form an environment conducive to growth, to attract capital and talent and to foster young entrepreneurs and global champions. |
